The blade suggests a variety of applications, from special-ops style military use to personal defense for those threatened by large animals on land, or underwater. Indeed, from our perspective, the most legitimate use of the WASP knife would be in scuba diving situations in which, as a last-ditch attempt to avert a full shark attack, one could possibly manage to stab the aggressing shark and blast it out of the marine kingdom. Wasp Knives details such a situation, and notes that the freezing effect of the injected gas will prevent a marine creature from bleeding immediately, while the injected air forces the (hopefully dead) creature to the surface. Such an arrangement would indeed be preferable to the "bangsticks" in use today as underwater shark-killing tools, which use a shotgun shell at the end of a long rod to inflict serious, but messy, damage to the creatures, all too often making a potential feeding frenzy a very real one.
